Originally from Cumbria, Rob came to the North East to study Dentistry in 1988. Following successful completion of his Dental degree, Rob went on to study Medicine, completing his 5-year MBBS qualification from Newcastle Medical School in 1999.
During this time, Rob worked in General Dental Practice giving him valuable experience of dentistry outside of a hospital setting. Rob has a wealth of experience in medicine and surgery, working in general and vascular surgery, accident and emergency and orthopaedics, before finding his home in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Rob became a Consultant at Sunderland Royal Hospital in 2009. As consultant, Rob has been involved in delivering training and education. Rob lectures on the national General Implant Foundation Training course.
He has published numerous scientific papers, contributed chapters to numerous medical books and chaired the Maxillofacial Reconstruction session at the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons 87th annual meeting in Boston Massachusetts.
At Higgins & Winter Dental Practice, Rob often becomes involved in complex implant treatments. Rob has extensive experience of providing All-On-4 “teeth in a day” and complex cosmetic cases at the front of the mouth. Rob is also able to provide full mouth reconstruction where there is insufficient bone for conventional implants, by using the latest technology with zygomatic implants.
Outside of work Rob is a family man, is fanatical about photography and enjoys cycling, windsurfing,
skiing, mountaineering and SCUBA diving.
